Updated over a year ago

Have you located a Google result that is displaying outdated content tied to your website? It's important to remove this information to maintain the accuracy of the search results that appear online.

In this article, we will show you the most effective way to remove old information from Google's search results.

If you haven't already done so, you will need to verify your site ownership with Google by generating a Google Site Verification Code.

  1. Please enter your domain name where it says example.com in the URL Prefix box on the right and click Continue

  2. Select HTML Tag from the Other verification methods

  3. Copy the 'content' code only into the Google Site Verification field in your website builder Global Settings

  4. Wait a few minutes for the code to feed through to your site and then click Verify

Once you have verified your ownership with Google for your website, please log into your Google Search Console and submit the sitemap for your website.

To do this, enter sitemap.xml in this section:

Once this has been done it may take another week or so for Google to update/index the site.

Furthermore, you may also go to Google and request this specific site be removed: https://search.google.com/search-console/remove-outdated-content
