What is SEO?

Updated over 12 months ago

SEO is based on your content and traffic driven to your website so the best way to boost your ranking is to ensure that your site has as much relevant information for consumers.
You could do this by sending out e-marketing campaigns directing traffic to your site or sharing your site on social media platforms.

The web pages on your website are set with default titles, keywords and descriptions so that the results will be automatically generated based on your content.
You can customise the Title, Description and Keywords for each page in the SEO section in the Website CMS. There are also Merge fields you can use if you wish.
This is located by going to Website > More > SEO.

Best practice is to ensure that the content you enter is relevant to the page. Ensure that the titles and descriptions are reflective of what the page displays. Keywords aren't necessarily used by search engines anymore, so their impact is minimal. Instead search engines display results based on the relevancy of your page content to the search query. We have found the following article, which appears to provide a decent explanation of each of those metatags: https://seositecheckup.com/articles/how-to-optimize-your-meta-titles-descriptions-and-keywords

We would recommend searching online for examples and tips for having the most effective SEO. Please note that there are many guides to SEO, however the algorithms used by the major search engines are not public knowledge and therefore attaining the top ranking is not something that can be procedurally achieved, therefore the best action to perform is to ensure your website provides plenty of relevant and up to date content. That way if somebody is searching "real estate" in suburbs you operate in, your website should rank highly (although most buyers will search directly through Realestate.com.au or Domain.com.au). One of the most effective things you can do is to keep an up to date blog and provide lots of useful information for buyers about the market and the area in general. The content will have them return to your website for the latest updates.
